Gudauri is a ski resort located on the southern slopes of The Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia. Gudauri lies 120 km (75 mi) to the north of the capital Tbilisi. The trip from Tbilisi to Gudauri usually takes two hours by car.
The slopes of Gudauri are completely above the tree line and are best for free-riders and are generally considered to be avalanche-safe. The ski season lasts from December to April. Heliskiing is also available throughout the season.
Set at 2000 metres, just below the Jvari Pass – the main crossing point of the Greater Caucasus – Gudauri is perfectly positioned for superb winter skiing and summer walking.
With its southern aspect ensuring plentiful sunshine the whole year round, its altitude and latitude also guarantee a healthy snow-cover for the whole ski season (December – mid April). In winter Gudauri’s long runs are a delight for every kind of skier and snowboarder, both on and off-piste.
In summer the resort takes on a new life as a fabulous walking destination – with good facilities for horse riding as well. The trails excel both in landscape and historical interest.
Additionally the excellently equipped local hotels offer all the facilities needed for successful international conferences and workshops in an inspiring setting.
With a good road now connecting Gudauri to Tbilisi there can be no better launch-pad for all explorations of the Greater Caucasus, 12 months of the year.
The winter slopes of Gudauri offer facilities for skiers of all types and abilities. Runs are suited to beginners, snowboarders and professionals alike.
